Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Treatments

Platelet-rich plasma consists of two elements: plasma, or the liquid portion of blood, and platelets, a type of blood cell that plays an important role in healing throughout the body.

A woman lays down with her eyes closed and her face relaxed as the aesthetician injects a PRP treatment into her skin.

Potential benefits of PRP:

  • Helps to restore hair health and  lost volume.

  • Reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.

  • Brighter and smoother skin tone

  • Heal acne scars.

  • Under eyes, dark circles.

  • Treat hyperpigmentation.

To create platelet-rich plasma, clinicians take a blood sample from the patient and place it into a device called a centrifuge that rapidly spins the sample, separating out the other components of the blood from the platelets and concentrating them within the plasma. After creating platelet-rich plasma from a patient’s blood sample, that solution is injected into the target area

PRP for hair loss

PRP injections can be effective in treating male pattern baldness, both in preventing hair loss and promoting new hair growth. PRP can also aid in the stimulation of hair growth after hair transplants.

PRP for skin rejuvenation

PRP will improve skin quality and smooth fine lines of the face, hands and neck area. Patients will notice an improvement in puffiness and darkness under the eyes. Overall the skin will appear more youthful, tighter, and with an improved skin tone. PRP treatment is ideal for individuals that are searching for a natural improvement in their appearance.

How many PRP treatments will I need?

That depends on the concern and treatment area, but generally it is recommended 3-4 sessions performed 4-6 weeks apart. After these treatments are complete, some patients may require maintenance therapy once or twice a year.

When will I notice results after PRP treatment?

Patients will notice an improvement in skin texture in the first month. Maximum collagen regeneration occurs around 3 months after the initial treatment. The results are typically maintained for 18-24months. Maintaining the results usually requires 1-2 yearly touch-up treatments.
